Indonesian pediatricians’ knowledge of Rome IV criteria and their therapeutic approach to infantile colic

Background Infantile colic is a functional gastrointestinal disorder (FGID) that occurs in approximately 20% of infants under 6 months. Even though this condition self-limiting, inappropriate therapy affects the baby’s future quality life. Therefore, it essential for physicians, especially pediatricians, to employ correct diagnosis based on currently accepted Rome IV criteria and an appropriate therapeutic approach.
 Objective To assess gaps Indonesian pediatricians’ understanding infantile according criteria, their approach managing condition, associated factors.
 Methods We randomly selected 131 pediatricians from Jakarta Chapter Pediatric Society complete questionnaire aimed at assessing knowledge colic. The was scored scale 0 20. evaluated association between scores with several variables, including years clinical experience, accreditation pediatric residency institution, type hospital, guidelines used.
 Results Out selected, 75 (57.3%) had used criteria. mean score those participants 14.24 (SD 3.32) out Mean all 11.50 2.80) 16 points. There no significant either or length hospital type, Conclusions Most surveyed who have fairly good Overall, also sound However, 70% maximum score, education needed improve these areas. Knowledge are not used.
